Back and Neck Pain
Back and neck pain are the second most common reasons people visit a doctor and the third most common reasons for surgery. Back pain can range from a mild, dull, annoying ache to persistent, severe, disabling pain. Pain in your back can limit your ability to move. It can interfere with normal functioning and quality of life. Always talk with your healthcare provider if you have persistent pain.
Neck pain occurs in the area of the cervical vertebrae in your neck. Because of its location and range of motion, your neck is often left unprotected and at risk for injury.
Pain in your back or neck area can come on suddenly and intensely. Chronic pain lasts for weeks, months, or even years. The pain can be constant or come and go.

Symptoms
This may occur immediately following an injury or may be delayed for several days thereafter. However, some back and neck pain is not precipitated by an injury at all. Along with pain and tenderness, other symptoms may include neck stiffness, headache, dizziness, abnormal sensations such as burning or prickling (paresthesia), or shoulder and leg pain. Some people experience cognitive, somatic, or psychological conditions such as concentration impairment, nervousness, irritability, sleep disturbance, fatigue or depression. If you are concerned about your symptoms, you should see a doctor as soon as possible.
