Hear from People Just Like You – Patient Testimonial
At Texas Spine & Neurosurgery, we understand that your time is valuable. We know that traveling long distances may be painful and inconvenient for many of our valued patients. For these reasons, our mission is to bring outstanding neurosurgical and spine care to you, instead of asking you to travel to us. To accomplish our goal of delivering first class care close to home, we have established relationships with many local and regional surgical centers and hospitals throughout Texas. For a list of all of our locations, click here. Below you will find additional information regarding preparing for your first visit, what to expect when you arrive, and what insurance plans we work with. When you call to make your appointment, please let us know where you’d like to be seen, so that we can schedule you at the most convenient location available.
Preparing For Your First Visit
Please bring the following items for your first visit:
- All x-ray, MRI, CT or other films & reports you may have relating to your visit.
- Any recent lab work.
- All of the medications (names and dosages) you are taking at this time.
- Your insurance card and co-pay.
- Your drivers license or other form of identification.
- Your referral from your primary care physician (if required by your insurance company).
- Our office can help to facilitate provision of these films, reports, labwork and referring physician documentation.
What to Expect When you Arrive
When you arrive, our friendly staff will greet you, collect your paperwork, and if applicable, collect any fees required by your insurance plan. Please note that all fees related to your new patient appointment are due before you see the doctor. While your paperwork is processed, you may relax in our comfortable waiting room. Our staff will then seat you in an exam room, where you will discuss your history and symptoms with one of our medical assistants or nurses. Any imaging studies you have will be loaded to the computer at this time. The doctor will then conduct a physical exam, ask follow up questions related to your history and symptoms, and discuss your imaging studies with you. You will have ample time to ask any and all questions you may have. You and the doctor will then discuss and agree to next steps, based on everything you’ve covered in the visit.
At Texas Spine & Neurosurgery, we focus on a conservative approach to care. So, if your condition is one which may respond to non-surgical options, we will help you to exhaust those options before a surgical treatment plan is considered. Likewise, if you don’t have imaging studies yet, and the doctor believes they may be helpful, we will help you get those scheduled at a time that’s convenient for you. If you have already exhausted your conservative therapy options, or your condition is one which will not be responsive to non-surgical therapy, you and the doctor may discuss the surgical options available to you during your new patient appointment.
