I remember being told surgery does not fix back pain, not because that is true but because the provincial government would not pay for instrumentation for a fusion.

I remember being told we do not provide “heroic care” because we have to ration care in Canada.

I remember walking into an ER crowded with hundreds of people and only one nurse and one doctors to staff it.

I remember my mom waiting a year to get a hip replacement.

I remember someone suing a provincial government stating that a 1 year wait violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They won in court but the province used the “not withstanding clause” to get out of it.

I remember ER wait times being tens of hours or days, not 15 minutes and advertised on a billboard like in the US.

I realize that most advanced technology never gets to Canada since the federal government limits the number of companies which sell health equipment to Canada.
