I’ve worked at renowned hospitals like the Montreal General, Jewish General, Montreal Children’s, and Royal Victoria.

I was told surgery couldn’t fix back pain, not because it was impossible, but because the government wouldn’t fund the equipment for a fusion.

I recall hearing that “heroic care” wasn’t an option because care was rationed in Canada.

The crowded ERs with hundreds of patients and only one nurse and one doctor on duty.

I remember my mom waiting a year for a hip replacement.

A lawsuit claimed a one-year wait violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They won, but the province used the “notwithstanding clause” to override it.

Waiting tens of hours, or even days, in an ER—nothing like the quick care advertised in the US.
